General (Ret.) Anthony C. Zinni


General Zinni is a Director of Michael Baker International. He currently serves on numerous boards including Sotherly Hotels, Inc. and BAE Systems, where he previously served as Chairman and acting CEO. General Zinni is a retired four-star Marine Corps officer who previously served as Commander, U.S. Central Command. During his career he held numerous command and staff assignments that included Platoon, Company, Battalion, Regimental, Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Marine Expeditionary Force Command. 

After his retirement, General Zinni participated in several presidential diplomatic missions to Somalia, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea and Department of State missions involving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and conflicts in Indonesia and the Philippines. He has also served in numerous public and private sector roles including the President of UCLA’s Center for Middle East Development, Chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Middle East Forum, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of World Affairs, member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Policy Advisory Group, Chairman of the Board of the Middle East Institute, and Co-Chair of The Center for U.S. Global Engagement’s National Security Advisory Council among others. In addition, General Zinni has served as Executive Vice President of DynCorp International and President of International Operations for MIC Industries.

General Zinni holds a B.S. in Economics from Villanova University; an M.S. in International Relations from Salvae Regina College; an M.B.A. in Business from Central Michigan University; and Honorary Doctorates from Villanova University, William and Mary College, and the Maine Maritime Academy.
