Kara L. Bue


From 2003-2005, Ms. Bue previously held positions as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Regional Stability within the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs and as Special Assistant to then-Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage. Previously, Ms. Bue was in private practice as a corporate lawyer specializing in financial services law. Prior to law school, she served as Special Assistant to the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy; Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research, Development and Acquisition; and as a policy analyst for SRS Technologies. 

Ms. Bue is a graduate of Brown University and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, serves on the Board of Directors of Freedom Fields USA, and is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Center for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) at the Naval Postgraduate School. She is a recipient of the State Department’s Superior Honor Award.
