Virginia Beach Office Partners with Old Dominion University’s (ODU) Engineering Early Advantage Program for Women (eEAPw)

August 03, 2015

Several professional women from Michael Baker International’s Virginia Beach office met with the 12 students selected for this year’s Old Dominion University (ODU) Engineering Early Advantage Program for Women (eEAPw). Beth Drylie, Jill DiBattista, Deanna Nevling, and Jennifer Riddle discussed information about the firm, why they chose engineering as a profession, and the roads that led them to their current positions at Michael Baker.

Each year, incoming ODU Engineering female freshmen are selected for this four-week summer program which includes academic and career enhancing activities in a unique engineering setting.

This is the 15th year of the Engineering Early Advantage Program which was originally established to encourage females to enter the field of engineering and technology. One of the goals is to provide a framework which encourages socialization among participants to ease the transition into a male-dominated field.

Jodi S. Gidley Legacy Scholarship

Michael Baker Virginia Beach staff are proud to support the newly formed Jodi S. Gidley Legacy Scholarship, established in memory of Michael Baker employee, Jeff Gidley’s wife (). Jodi received her Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University and also served on the school’s Board of Visitors. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a female full-time student who is pursuing an engineering degree and participates in the ODU eEAPw.
