The Health Sciences Building is located on the West Charleston Campus of the College of Southern Nevada. The four story 85,400 square foot facility houses health science programs in nursing and related health sciences and is home to the Cardiorespiratory Sciences Program.
The building consists of science laboratories, examination rooms, classrooms, computer lab, a 150-seat auditorium and administrative space all equipped with the latest resources, technology and equipment. This building is the driving element in creating a new Health Sciences Plaza that provides a center for all Science Programs.
All building systems and materials have been chosen based on an approach to green architecture and energy efficiency. The rooftop is designed for future installation of photovoltaics to supplement the energy needs of the building. The mechanical system was chosen to reduce noise levels in the classrooms. The building envelope was conceived as a whole to conserve energy. All materials meet the 50-year Life Cycle goals of Public Buildings. Materials and desert colors were used to complement the campus while setting the tone for future expansion and maintenance.
