U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing - Training and Conference Center

Location: Washington, DC

Michael Baker was awarded the Training and Conference Center Renovation contract after winning a design competition. The goal of the project was to completely replace an antiquated auditorium that had already been partially filled with different functions. Providing nearly 20,000 square feet of space, the project encompasses an auditorium with stage and balcony, auditorium lobby, office space with entrance lobby and copy room, video conference center, five training classrooms, and mechanical penthouse space. State-of-the-art electronics were incorporated in every aspect in the training rooms, computer training rooms, auditorium, and video conference center. Enhancing the visual impact are custom-designed fixtures including stainless steel sconce light fixtures, stainless steel handrail, torchiere light fixtures, the lobby ceiling fixture, and marble and stainless steel reception desk.
