Location: Norfolk, VA
Michael Baker provided architectural and engineering services for the construction of a new multimodal transportation center complex adjacent to the Elizabeth River, Harbor Park baseball stadium, and Hampton Roads harbor. The Hampton Roads region is projected to be one of Virginia’s most populated regions by 2035. The multi-modal transportation center complex, Norfolk’s first passenger rail facility in nearly 50 years, will serve an estimated 67,000 passengers per year. Future phases of the project will eventually incorporate connections to the City’s recently constructed light rail system, a multi-use trail, commercial development, parking garages and a future ferry terminal.
Michael Baker’s services included planning, civil engineering, traffic design, architecture and engineering design, interior design, landscape architecture, cost estimating, grant application support, permitting, construction services, stakeholder coordination, and public involvement.
