Michael Baker International provided design services for a 500,000-square-foot, 1,000-room Lodge, comparable to a commercially branded hotel, with associated grounds building and site development. The project included required parking, utilities, storm drainage, communications, electric, HVAC, fire protection and alarm systems, High-Risk Target antiterrorism and force protection measures, and site improvements. The Lodge features full dining and in-house laundry areas, kitchen and serving facilities for a 350-seat restaurant, administrative offices, public toilets, storage areas, a delivery dock, and parking for 610 vehicles. The project included all site grading and preparation, site utilities and improvements, and construction necessary to provide a complete and usable facility. Michael Baker’s design provides a seven-story, H-shaped building that effectively distributes the guest rooms throughout the footprint and includes Onity system lodging controls. In addition, the “green building” is designed and constructed to obtain LEED® Silver certification, achieving LEED® points in the categories of Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environment Quality, and Innovation in Design.
