Location: Cambria County, Pennsylvania
Michael Baker International was the engineering designer of record on the Mascaro Corporation design/build team that constructed a 20-inch diameter steel natural gas transmission pipeline for 6.5 miles in Cambria Country, Penn. This pipeline was designed and constructed within an existing 60-foot wide easement adjacent to an in-service high pressure natural gas transmission line which was decommissioned when the new transmission line was placed in service. The project was originally owned by Peoples Natural Gas (PNG) and was sold to EQT during the middle of the construction activities. Because of the pending ownership transfer and to meet the winter natural gas demands of the City of Johnstown, the engineering design and acquisition of all environmental and civil permits was completed in a five-month timeframe.
