Location: Elk Grove, California, 15 MW on 115 acres
Swinerton Renewable Energy Inc. (an EPC contractor) selected Michael Baker International to provide civil engineering, earthwork and grading design for this 15 megawatt photovoltaic solar energy plant in Northern California. The project utilized single-axis tracker panels. Constructed in conjunction with the Kammerer project, the Michael Baker team provided Swinerton with efficient design on a compressed schedule, using criteria established with the reviewing agencies during the Dillard project to achieve rapid design review and project approval. In addition to providing site grading and drainage plans, Michael Baker designed access roads throughout the site to meet local fire department requirements while still optimizing the area required for solar panel and electrical equipment placement, including transformers and inverters. Additionally, the Michael Baker team provided design consultation and coordination in regards to neighboring property owners, easements, and dedications.
