Michael Baker International Names Charles Brehm as Director of Health and Safety

Brehm Returns to Company to Lead Corporate Safety Initiative

Pittsburgh (May 24, 2016)Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, recently named Charles Brehm as director of health and safety. In this role, Brehm will oversee Michael Baker’s enterprise-wide safety program to ensure the organization is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards concerning health and safety. This will include the development of policies and programs aimed at creating a safer work environment.  He reports to Chief Operating Officer John Whiteford.
 
“At Michael Baker International, many of our employees – engineers, architects, planners and other professionals – are regularly in the field for job site visits, which means a robust safety program is an organizational priority,” said Whiteford. “Chuck worked for the company a number of years ago and returns with additional expertise and experience in implementing safety programs for large-scale organizations. He is the ideal person to strengthen our existing safety program and lead the initiative going forward.”
 
Brehm will develop and implement safety guidelines across the organization and will also oversee safety training programs, including fall protection and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. In addition, he will coordinate internal and external health and safety audit programs and administer the worker’s compensation program.

Brehm most recently worked for Horsehead Holdings Corporation as general manager of health and safety, and previously worked at Michael Baker as health and safety manager from 2005-2012. He brings more than 35 years of industry experience to his new role, having enhanced safety programs for companies like Aristech Chemical Corporation, Sunoco Chemicals and American Cyanamid Company.
