Michael Baker International Promotes Michael J. Conaboy, P.E., to SVP and National Water Practice Lead

Firm drives growth in Water Practice with focus on expertise, experience and innovation

Pittsburgh (April 24, 2017) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, today announced the promotion of Michael J. Conaboy, P.E., to Senior Vice President and National Water Practice Lead. In this position, he is responsible for the implementation of the firm’s water strategies and works in collaboration with the regional water and management teams to expand the firm’s water practice related to the areas of water/wastewater, water treatment, distribution/collection, green infrastructure, CSO water quality, resiliency and surface water expertise. Mr. Conaboy also serves as the firm’s subject matter expert and advises project teams on developing innovative solutions for clients that cover the entire spectrum of the water cycle.
 
Mr. Conaboy is based in the firm’s Hamilton, New Jersey office and reports to Bonnie Shepherd, Executive Vice President and Chief Practice Officer.

Mr. Conaboy’s career with Michael Baker spans 23 years and began in the Alexandria, Virginia office, where he worked on a project for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Most recently, he served as Area Executive for New York and New Jersey, where he oversaw professionals in planning, traffic, ITS, GIT, water, environmental, civil/highway, architecture, structures, geotechnical, pavement, and construction management. He also served as Vice President and Office Executive for the firm’s New Jersey operation which has offices in Hamilton and Newark. Additional work with the firm’s New Jersey operations included: flood studies; drainage design; stormwater management; National Environmental Policy Act documentation; environmental permitting; highways; and as director of engineering and quality management; and operations manager.

Mr. Conaboy has volunteered his time and expertise to numerous organizations including: the American Society of Civil Engineers; the American Council of Engineering Companies; Engineers Without Borders; and the Association of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. He also has served as an adjunct professor of hydrology and hydraulics for graduate-school programs at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa.
 
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
