San Diego (May 10, 2016) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, is congratulating Bob Schlesinger, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, senior vice president and San Diego/Carlsbad office executive, following two recent professional appointments that demonstrate his ongoing commitment to excellence and advocacy in the profession of engineering.
In March, the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) inducted Schlesinger into its Academy of Fellows. Additionally, the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) reappointed Schlesinger to chair its Federal Agencies and Procurement Advocacy Committee for a second term. Schlesinger’s one-year term will begin during the ACEC Annual Convention, April 17-20 in Washington, D.C. Schlesinger is also a member of ACEC’s Government Affairs Committee.
“With more than three decades of public and private sector engineering experience, Bob is a trusted advocate for continued professional and legislative advancements in the field of military engineering,” said Rick Rubin, regional director of Michael Baker International’s west region. “We are proud of Bob’s professional achievements and the valuable support that he will provide to ACEC and SAME in his new roles,”
SAME selected and inducted Schlesinger into its Academy of Fellows to acknowledge his distinguished 29-year naval career and exemplary leadership with the society at the local and national levels. Previously, Schlesinger was president of the Seattle Post and regional vice president of the Northwest region. He currently serves as an elected director and member of SAME’s Executive Committee and as a member of SAME Seattle Post’s Board of Directors. As a Fellow, Schlesinger will promote continued military engineering excellence for the national defense on behalf of SAME.
As chair of ACEC’s Federal Agencies and Procurement Advocacy Committee, Schlesinger will lead the organizations’ advocacy efforts with Congress and federal agencies to enhance and protect the engineering industry and promote the interests of ACEC members engaged in contracting with the federal government.
A retired Navy Captain, Schlesinger, was the Commanding Officer of NAVFAC Northwest and director for facilities and environment at Navy Installations Command prior to joining Michael Baker International in 2009.
