Baker Adds Vertical Transportation Expertise to Rail & Transit Staff

James A. Kinahan Joins the Chicago Office in the Construction Services Group

Chicago (March 18, 2014) - Michael Baker International, LLC (Baker) announced that James A. Kinahan has joined Baker’s Construction Services Group in Chicago to support the continued expansion of the Baker Rail & Transit Market sector increasing differentiation through expansion of the Operations and Maintenance capabilities supporting this market.  Mr. Kinahan will serve as a construction specialist focused on rail and transit projects.  James, a 36-year veteran of operations and maintenance of transit facilities and equipment, most recently was with the Transportation Learning Center in Silver Spring, MD, where he was Project Director for the Elevator/Escalator Transit Consortium Maintenance Apprentice Training Program.  The US Department of Labor recently certified this program, of which six of the major transit authorities in the nation support.

Kinahan’s previous experience includes leadership roles within the Chicago Transit Authority’s Elevator/Escalator Maintenance Group and Maintenance Training Center.  He holds certifications from American Society of Mechanical Engineering (Elevator/Escalator Maintenance), and QEI Services as Q.E.I. (Qualified Elevator Inspector).  He received his B.S. in Political Science from Northeastern Illinois University, and an M.A. in Adult Education from Loyola University (Chicago).
