Pittsburgh (July 10, 2014) - Michael Baker International, a premier global provider of engineering and consulting services, has announced that it will be moving its global corporate headquarters from Moon Township to downtown Pittsburgh.  The Company has finalized a ten-year lease to occupy 22,000 square feet of high-profile space on the top two floors of the BNY Mellon Center, one of downtown’s most prominent and architecturally recognizable buildings.    The move is scheduled for December, 2014.  The Executive leadership and approximately 65 employees will relocate to the BNY Mellon Building at 500 Grant Street.  This relocation reflects and accommodates the firm’s significant growth and expansion in services and capabilities since the acquisition of Michael Baker Corporation and the merger of the firm’s technology,  intelligence and full life cycle support services with the engineering, planning and construction services.

The synergy of the full portfolio of Michael Baker International’s capabilities has resulted in the firm’s increase from a $500 million company to a $1.3 billion company, providing services and capabilities to private and public clients both nationally and internationally.

The BNY Mellon Center represents the community and culture of the downtown area as home to some of Pittsburgh’s major business institutions, law firms and international corporations.  Being located in this hub of activity will allow Baker to fully embrace its new high-profile international image while also being more connected to the people, community and culture of the firm’s home, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.   Baker has been involved in hundreds of high caliber infrastructure and development projects in the downtown area such as the Fort Pitt Tunnel, the Squirrel Tunnel and infrastructure throughout the stadium and convention center areas. This move presents an opportunity to cultivate a stronger commitment to the city and dedication to a future of providing high quality projects to the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, the Port Authority, PennDOT, ALCOSAN and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, among the many other local clients.

“Downtown Pittsburgh is the epicenter of the business community in western Pennsylvania and we are excited to make the BNY Mellon Center our new global headquarters as we continue to grow and evolve as a truly innovative provider of engineering consulting services,” indicated Michael Baker International Chief Executive Officer, Kurt Bergman.  “We take immense pride in our company’s involvement in Pittsburgh infrastructure growth over the last 75 years and we are excited to reaffirm our commitment to the area and city through this relocation.”
