Cary, N.C. (November 10, 2016) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, announced today that Domenic Coletti , P.E., has joined the firm’s Cary, North Carolina office, bringing nearly three decades of nationally recognized bridge design expertise. With Mr. Coletti’s hiring, Michael Baker strategically bolsters its bridge and highway practice to meet the emerging transportation infrastructure needs along the Eastern Seaboard.

Mr. Coletti—who brings more than 29 years of experience to his new role—is nationally renowned for his work in complex bridge design. As a Senior Technical Manager of Structures at Michael Baker, he will serve as a technical resource, imparting his structural design experience for projects both locally in North Carolina and nationally. Throughout his career, Mr. Coletti has led the design of highway, railroad and pedestrian bridges, among other transportation structures, along with performing simple and complex bridge rating analysis, and curved and skewed steel bridge research.

“Domenic’s national reputation and technical expertise—showcased in the projects he’s completed and the papers he’s published—strengthens Michael Baker’s position as a leader in transportation infrastructure and enhances our already strong team in North Carolina,” said John Dietrick, National Director, Bridge and Highway Practice at Michael Baker International. “We are honored to have Domenic join the team, and look for him to have a major influence on Michael Baker’s ongoing work with current and potential clients in the Mid-Atlantic Region.”

Mr. Coletti joins Michael Baker from HDR, where he spent 23 years. While at HDR, Mr. Coletti served in multiple capacities on a number of complex bridge projects across the country, most recently as the design manager for two notable North Carolina projects: the design-build replacement of the Bonner Bridge, a 2.8-mile coastal bridge designed for up to 84-feet of scour; and the design of four steel girder bridges, including a 1,600-foot curved girder flyover with integral bent caps, as part of the Fayetteville Outer Loop.

In addition to his project work, Mr. Coletti has participated in steel bridge research, and authored and presented numerous papers on bridge design. He is also a member or chair of technical committees for several national professional organizations, including the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

Mr. Coletti is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida and Minnesota. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science degree in civil engineering (structures) from the University of Texas at Arlington.
