PITTSBURGH (March 26, 2025) – Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, today announced today that Joanne Tyler, P.E., P.L.S., QSD, has been promoted to Office Executive – Carlsbad. In this role, Ms. Tyler will lead the growth and expansion of the firm’s Carlsbad, California, location, engaging with clients on their civil and land development, engineering, traffic planning, transportation, stormwater and water quality initiatives along the Southern California coast.
Ms. Tyler’s responsibilities will include deepening client and industry engagement, driving new business development, enhancing operational effectiveness, elevating project execution and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. In addition, she will collaborate with Operations leaders across Michael Baker’s practices and Western Region geographies and play a key role in spurring the firm’s continued expansion with new markets and clients, strengthening existing client relationships, securing new project opportunities and ensuring project excellence.

Ms. Tyler has been with Michael Baker for seven years of her 30-year career. Most recently, she served as the Department Manager – Land Development in Carlsbad. In this role, and previously as a Project Manager, she utilized her civil engineering and land surveying expertise across all aspects of public works and land development. Her projects have included utilities, industrial, commercial, retail and large housing developments throughout Southern California. Before joining Michael Baker as a Project Manager, Ms. Tyler spent 20 years as a Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer with O’Day Consultants, as well as a Project Engineer with other firms.
Ms. Tyler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University. She is an active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and the California Land Surveyors Association.
