Michael Baker International Strengthens Southeast Operations with Appointment of Brad Thoburn as Regional Transit and Surface Transportation Planning Lead

Mr. Thoburn brings more than 25 years of transit and planning experience, including a tenure at Jacksonville Transportation Authority

Jacksonville, Fla. (October 3, 2018) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, today announced that Brad Thoburn has joined the firm as Vice President and Southeast Regional Transit and Surface Transportation Planning Lead. In this role, Mr. Thoburn will be responsible for the development and management of the region’s transit and planning business plan and growth strategy.
 
Mr. Thoburn brings more than 25 years of experience in public administration, including 18 years in senior management roles focusing on transportation, transit, planning and public policy. Most recently, Mr. Thoburn held the role of Vice President of Planning and Development at the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), where he was responsible for overseeing long-range system planning, strategic planning, transportation innovation, project development and regional coordination activities. Most recently, he was focused on developing strategies to respond to emerging technologies and trends associated with autonomous and connected vehicles and mobility within the City of Jacksonville.

Prior to joining the JTA, Mr. Thoburn was the State Transportation Development Administrator for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), where he assisted in managing major state transportation plans and initiatives.
 
Mr. Thoburn began his career as a Congressional aid and provided policy guidance during the reauthorization of the Federal Transportation Act (TEA-21). He then went on to serve as a policy adviser for two mayors and served as Director of Planning and Development for the City of Jacksonville.
