Pittsburgh (October 27, 2016) - Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, announced today that Christine Mayernik was honored by the Pittsburgh Business Times with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her lasting impact on the energy industry. Ms. Mayernik is vice president, regional oil and gas market in Michael Baker’s Moon Township office where she oversees the company’s energy marketplace in the Eastern U.S., with a focus in the Marcellus and Utica Shale areas.

Ms. Mayernik was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the publication during the 2016 Women in Energy Leadership Award ceremony held October 20. Ms. Mayernik also was one of 26 individual Women in Energy Leadership Award winners recognized at the event for their career achievements, contributions to company success and community involvement. With more than 38 years of experience in the energy sector, Ms. Mayernik has made a significant impact on the industry and Michael Baker. She is dedicated to the growth and development of the business and supports her peers and young professionals in the community.

“Chris has spent her entire career working in the energy industry, from her first job out of college with Peoples Natural Gas,” said Tom Donatelli, vice president of business development at Michael Baker’s Moon Township office. “She has held positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, operations and customer service management, and is extremely experienced and knowledgeable about the industry. Chris’s commitment and dedication motivates other professionals to excel in their careers as well and helps to ensure that ‘We Make a Difference’ in all that we do for our clients and partners.”

Ms. Mayernik joined Michael Baker in 2002, serving as project manager for the development of an evacuation plan for the Central Business District of the City of Pittsburgh and as program manager for a Technical Support Contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. Prior to joining Michael Baker, she spent 21 years working with natural gas local distribution companies of the Consolidated Natural Gas System.

“During my time in the energy industry, I have been privileged to work alongside dedicated and talented individuals,” said Ms. Mayernik. “I also have been fortunate to experience the full spectrum of the industry, from directly servicing natural gas utility consumers to working in support of important pipeline safety issues and to interfacing with Michael Baker’s oil and gas clients. I look forward to participating in the development and growth of the industry in the tri-state area.”

In the community, Ms. Mayernik is a member of the Advisory Committees for the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at West Virginia University, and was inducted into the West Virginia Academy of Civil Engineers in April 2016.
