The Parks Highway Data Viewer Narrative documents my individual Cesium Developer Certification project. The Parks Highway Data Viewer is an interactive 3D web application that I developed to support the Michael Baker design team during construction of the Parks Highway MP 319-325 Reconstruction Project in Alaska.
The objective of this project was to determine whether a single CesiumJS-based environment could bring together transportation, geospatial, terrain, grading, and construction-support data in a way that improves project understanding and engineering decision-making.
The resulting application demonstrates how Cesium can be implemented in a technically sound manner by integrating Cesium ion assets, terrain services, 3D Tiles, external GIS web services, engineering measurements, profiles, cross sections, and earthwork analysis into a unified workflow.
Most importantly, the project shows how Cesium adds value to end users by transforming fragmented project information into an intuitive, interactive app that helps the design team visualize conditions, analyze construction impacts, investigate project data, and communicate insights more effectively than traditional engineering tools alone.
