Lorna Parkins is a leader in transportation planning and exploratory scenario planning methods. As Office Executive for Michael Baker International’s Richmond, Virginia, office, she is focused on accelerating the firm’s growth in the state and Mid-Atlantic Region.

Lorna has 35 years of industry experience, specializing in the relationships between transportation, land use and economic development. Her experience includes land use, environmental and economic work on over 50 major investment or feasibility studies and environmental impact documents; working with transportation, land use and economic models in the context of alternatives analysis, scenario planning and environmental impact analysis; long-range transit and multimodal plans; and transit corridor studies and transit-oriented development plans. Her practice is fully multimodal and emphasizes equitable mobility for the communities she serves.

Lorna was inducted into the American Institute of Certified Planners College of Fellows (FAICP). She is a founding member and Past President of the WTS Central Virginia Chapter and currently serves as a director-at-large. Additionally, Lorna is an Executive Committee member of the Virginia Transit Association, FAICP chair of the American Planning Association Virginia Chapter Board, and an at-large member of the American Public Transit Association Planning and Program Development Steering Committee.
