Joshua J. Sprowls, P.E., S.E., PMP, serves as Vice President and Engineering Practice Executive – Integrated Design and Advisory (IDA) at Michael Baker International. In this role, he drives engineering design performance for a talented team of engineers spanning the key disciplines for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and fire protection, as well as design for telecommunications, cybersecurity and smart buildings technology.
Mr. Sprowls’ experience in the AEC industry spans over two decades, with construction and engineering both in the military and in private industry in Europe, the Middle East and across North America. His previous roles as Principal Engineer for large projects, from urban high-rise designs to US Marine F35 Hangars, contribute to the successful operation and quality of the work within the Engineering Practice.
Prior to joining Michael Baker, Mr. Sprowls was Senior Vice President for WSP USA, where he was Director of Architecture and Engineering for Federal Programs. He was also a U.S. Army Engineer Officer serving multiple combat tours in Iraq.
Mr. Sprowls is a licensed Professional Engineer in 18 U.S. states and territories and a licensed Structural Engineer in two states. Mr. Sprowls holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He earned a Master of Science degree in civil and environmental engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
