Guy Carpino, P.E., R.C.D.D.
Engineering Principal
Guy Carpino, P.E., R.C.D.D., is the National Engineering Principal in our Integrated Design and Advisory (IDA) business vertical. He is based in Michael Baker’s San Diego-SoCal office. In this role, he offers subject matter expertise on a wide range of electrical projects including client consultation, engineer mentorship and industry organization guidance. Mr. Carpino’s skill set includes project management and team management, particularly in large-scale and critical projects. With extensive electrical engineering experience gathered over 30 years, Mr. Carpino is an expert in large-scale power systems, technology systems and solar photovoltaic/renewable energy systems design. He holds Professional Engineering registrations in 24 states and is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer, which certifies him as a qualified designer for advanced technology systems.
Mr. Carpino has contributed to numerous projects in sectors such as advanced technology and microelectronics, commercial, institutional, distributed generation, electric vehicles, government, healthcare, higher education and military facilities. Mr. Carpino plays a key role in early project planning and design concepts, exemplifying Michael Baker’s commitment to provide innovative solutions to our clients by bringing Michael Baker’s comprehensive range of services and capabilities to support private sector clients in various markets while keeping our focus on growth across federal, transit and aviation markets.
Mr. Carpino is actively involved in industry organizations, community groups, and teaching. He is an editor of three American National Standards Institute/Intern National Electrical Testing Association electrical standards including acceptance testing specifications, electrical commissioning specifications and maintenance testing specifications. He is past president and current vice-president of the local division of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and is a guest instructor for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is also a member of the California Blacksmith Association and an instructor for youth programs.
