Chief Executive Officer
Brian A. Lutes is Chief Executive Officer of Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services spanning four Verticals: Infrastructure, Integrated Design and Advisory (IDA), Mitigation, Environmental, Resiliency, Response and Recovery (MER3) and GovTech. Driven by the expertise of more than 6,000 employees across more than 120 office locations nationwide, Michael Baker’s practices encompass all facets of infrastructure, including design and civil engineering for diverse bridge, highway, water, rail and transit and aviation projects, as well as planning, architecture, environmental and construction and program management.
As CEO, Mr. Lutes is responsible for overseeing all facets of the business and the overall performance of the company. Prior to being named CEO in 2017, Mr. Lutes was the Chief Operating Officer for Michael Baker after serving as Chief Financial Officer from 2014 until August 2016.
Mr. Lutes holds an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut School of Business and a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering. He is also a graduate of GE’s Manufacturing Leadership Curriculum and Corporate Audit Staff.
In the Pittsburgh region, Mr. Lutes has served as Chair for the March of Dimes Transportation, Building & Construction Awards Luncheon and is the Executive Sponsor for Michael Baker’s ongoing support of Bridges to Prosperity, a nonprofit organization that partners with local governments to connect communities via pedestrian trail bridges, in addition to providing technical assistance and resource mobilization.
Mr. Lutes is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh Class of XXXII.
