James Uhl
President, Places and Facilities
James Uhl serves as President of Michael Baker’s Places and Facilities business vertical and Chief Executive Officer of PBK, a national architectural firm delivering innovative design solutions for education, healthcare, the public sector, and communities nationwide. In these roles, he steers the enterprise’s strategic vision, operational performance, and growth initiatives, with a culture centered on innovation, client success, and organizational excellence.
Since joining PBK in 2021, Mr. Uhl has held executive positions, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer, before stepping into the CEO role in 2025. Throughout his tenure, he has been instrumental in strengthening the firm’s financial foundation, optimizing operations, and significantly expanding its national footprint.
Before PBK, Mr. Uhl built a distinguished leadership background with prominent firms such as LEO A DALY and Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam (LAN). He also served as a contracting officer in the United States Air Force, managing complex contracts and large-scale programs across domestic and international assignments.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Air Force Academy and an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. His core expertise spans strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, financial and risk management, procurement, technology integration, and business operations.
