Peter Cavadini

Supporting Team Member

Peter serves as Sr. Director/Engagement Manager for Tidal Basin, part of Michael Baker International’s family of companies. In his role, he manages a portfolio of disaster contracts across the U.S. and is currently serving as the Project Manager of a non-congregate shelter program in Alaska in response to Typhoon Halong. Peter has more than 15 years of experience in the disaster response and recovery industry, including 11 years in the nonprofit sector. Peter has worked on disasters all over the U.S., including Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Ian and the Maui Wildfire. Internationally, he has worked in Nepal, Malawi, Ecuador and Dominica.

Peter is committed to making a difference around the globe. Originally from Connecticut, he spent most of his childhood in South Bend, Indiana, with six siblings. He studied philosophy and anthropology at the University of Notre Dame, where he later earned his master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration.

Fun fact: Peter is a proud uncle to 20 nieces and nephews.

What was the most rewarding aspect of this experience?

The most rewarding aspect of volunteering with Fika was learning how a bridge is built from scratch, without using anything besides muscle-power and hand tools. It was incredible to see what can be accomplished simply through people working together and being guided by field experts.
