Ty Jackson

Ty has a decade of experience as a Low Voltage designer and a thirst for innovation and growth. In his role, he is responsible for data connectivity, including backbone and horizontal, and is focused on security and audio-visual design. Ty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Jacksonville University while playing for the university’s basketball team.

Ty was driven to participate in this year’s Fika build by the opportunity to build lasting connections and improve lives. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, he now resides in Houston, Texas, with his family. His hobbies include traveling and coaching basketball for middle school and high school boys and girls. 

Fun fact: Ty has driven all of Interstate 10, from Florida to California, multiple times. 

What did you learn from working and interacting with members of the community in Rwanda?

I’ve learned to take more time to appreciate things in the everyday monotonous activities, and to be present in the moment.
