Michael Baker provided comprehensive electrical, mechanical and plumbing construction documents for the relocation and expansion of BioLegend’s headquarters. The project transformed a four-parcel site into an 8-acre biotechnology campus featuring four buildings with office and laboratory spaces, approximately 250,000 square feet of outdoor amenities and a seven-story parking structure with 700 spaces.
Our scope included preparing detailed construction documents for a wide range of systems including variable refrigerant flow (VRF), heating and hot water systems, central air handling units, nitrogen gas piping, vacuum and compressed air systems, smoke evacuation and industrial chilled and hot water systems. The design also incorporated emergency power generation and lighting upgrades to support critical laboratory operations and office environments.
The work involved new ground-up construction for a four-story building, renovations to existing lab and office spaces and the addition of a multi-level parking garage. The campus accommodates specialized functions including bottling, packing and storage, ensuring operational efficiency for BioLegend’s growing life sciences operations.
This $140 million project was delivered in collaboration with Krenek Design Group, Delawie, DPR Construction and Coffman Engineers.
