JLL – Houston Headquarters

When Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL), a premier global commercial real estate and investment management firm, needed an engineering partner for its new Houston headquarters relocation project, it selected the team from Michael Baker to help bring its vision to life. The beautiful new headquarters in Houston’s prestigious Afton Oaks / River Oaks district incorporates bold and classic high-end finishes with a sleek structural steel staircase connecting three floors and includes a monument wall which incorporates steel, glass and architectural metal spanning nearly 40 feet in height.

Michale Baker was tasked with the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design to bring JLL’s elegant vision to fruition. The office area was a combination of collaboration areas, open workstations and glass-front offices. Conference rooms feature customized millwork with back-painted magnetic marker boards, as well as advanced video and telecom equipment. Part of the overall MEP design tasks given to Michael Baker was to aid the overall objectives of achieving both LEED v4 Gold® and WELL Certification.

WELL Certification is a globally recognized building standard administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI); the process evaluates and verifies a space’s design and operations to ensure that the space actively supports and enhances the health (physical and mental), personal comfort and well-being of the occupants who call the space home for either working or living. Michael Baker’s design team was able to achieve both the LEED and WELL certifications standards within the first-submission pass to both certifying entities.
