Mt. Crested Butte Signage, Wayfinding and Branding Plan

Michael Baker collaborated with the town of Mt. Crested Butte to develop a comprehensive signage, wayfinding and branding plan that enhances both visitor experience and community identity. The team began by conducting a detailed inventory and evaluation of existing signage and wayfinding elements, identifying opportunities to improve clarity, consistency and visual appeal.

Working closely with community stakeholders, Michael Baker developed a cohesive branding system that reflects the character of Mt. Crested Butte. This effort culminated in the completion of a new logo, brand standards and integrated signage designs in 2022, establishing a unified visual identity across the town’s public spaces.

The project includes extensive trail and transit signage, developed in collaboration with Vail Resorts and private ski resort representatives to ensure alignment across key destinations and user groups. Fabrication and installation of signage elements began in December 2023, with ongoing fabrication support planned through 2029 to support phased implementation and long-term consistency.
