Michael Baker provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), fire protection and construction administration (CA) for this ground-up, build-to-suit commercial office building for one of the Houston area’s top law firms. The overall project for the new West Law Firm headquarters encompassed core-and-shell construction within a full-site development context. Mchael Baker accommodated design for several distinct elements of the West Law Firm office, including a fire-rated ground-floor glazing, a fourth-floor penthouse with a “party deck” and curtain-walled stair towers.
The 22,000-square-foot office building was conditioned by an energy-efficient variable air volume (VAV) chilled water air handling system. The designs of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) also consisted of rooftop unit (RTU) air handling units (AHUs), ductwork and diffusers. Michael Baker was proud to work on this building, as it was a finalist and award winner for both the Houston Business Journal and the American General Contractors of Houston.
