Allegany County Indoor Mapping Implementation

Michael Baker’s DATAMARK Technologies team delivered a groundbreaking indoor mapping solution for Allegany County, Maryland, revolutionizing emergency response capabilities across critical public facilities. The team partnered with the Department of Emergency Services to address a pressing challenge: the lack of accessible indoor location data within the county’s computer-aided dispatch and call handling equipment systems.

In just 25 days, the DATAMARK team collected and processed detailed GIS data and floor plans for 40 high-priority buildings, including schools, hospitals, government offices and apartment complexes. Michael Baker integrated this data into a cloud-native platform that seamlessly connected with existing emergency systems, enabling 9-1-1 telecommunicators to visualize interior layouts and navigate complex environments with speed and precision.

The team’s solution empowered non-GIS professionals—such as school administrators and facility managers—to update room names, automated external defibrillator locations and class lists through a user-friendly interface. These updates dynamically synced with emergency systems, enhancing situational awareness for law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and emergency managers.

By delivering public safety-grade indoor data and intuitive tools for collaboration, the DATAMARK Technologies team transformed Allegany County’s emergency response landscape. The team’s work ensured that responders could locate callers faster, reduce risk and save critical seconds during emergencies.
