Tommy Montgomery, P.E., was named Regional Director of the Southeast Region and will be responsible for accelerating growth while ensuring project delivery excellence throughout the entire Southeast Region, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee. Quintin Watkins, P.E., was appointed as Office Executive for Georgia and Tennessee and will help continue to advance excellence and drive growth in this important market. Al Bowman, P.E., was named Office Manager for Georgia and will focus on expanding client relationships with innovative solutions in the Southeast Region.

- Tommy Montgomery, P.E., is a seasoned leader with 30 years of experience, a background rich in operations and a proven track record for growth. Throughout his tenure, he has assumed positions of increasing responsibility and most recently served as the Office Executive responsible for the Firm’s Georgia and Tennessee operations. Mr. Montgomery earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
- Quintin Watkins, P.E., has 27 years of industry experience and has been with Michael Baker for nearly nine years, most recently as a Department Manager for Aviation. Mr. Watkins is nationally recognized for his expertise in airfield improvement, with a resume that includes work at some of the busiest airports in the country. Mr. Watkins earned his Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas and his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he also did graduate studies work.
- Al Bowman, P.E., has 32 years of industry experience and has been with Michael Baker for 21 years, most recently as a Director of Transportation. Mr. Bowman is a dedicated leader with an impressive resume for project excellence and client engagement. Mr. Bowman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University.

Pittsburgh (February 10, 2020) – Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services celebrating 80 Years of Making a Difference, today announced that Ed Gentilcore has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. He assumes the role from H. James McKnight, who is retiring after a 45-year career that includes nearly 25 years of service at Michael Baker. In his new role, Mr. Gentilcore will continue to serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and colleagues companywide. In addition, John M. Tedder has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Both Mr. Gentilcore and Mr. Tedder will continue to be based in Michael Baker’s corporate headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh.
Mr. Gentilcore most recently served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Michael Baker. He has more than 30 years of nationally recognized experience in engineering and construction law and litigation. He has managed bidding, contracting, environmental reviews and claims management on major capital construction projects and has experience in multiple delivery systems, including design-bid-build, Design-Build and integrated project delivery.
Prior to joining Michael Baker, Mr. Gentilcore was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at the New York Racing Association and spent seven years at Sherrard, German & Kelly, P.C., as Shareholder, Director and Chair of its Construction Services Group. He also has worked in senior positions with Duane Morris, LLP and Reed Smith, LLP.
Mr. Gentilcore earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech/Rhetoric and Communications from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and served as a co-chair of the ConsensusDOCS Committee charged with the development of the ConsensusDOCS 310 Green Building Addendum.
He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Construction Law and Construction Litigation. He also currently serves on the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law. The Forum is the world’s largest association of construction lawyers.
John M. Tedder previously served as Associate General Counsel at Michael Baker and has more than 24 years of legal experience focused on project development, procurement and complex design and construction disputes. His expertise includes work surrounding power plant capital projects, commercial development, highway/bridge construction and energy and natural resources.
Before joining Michael Baker, Mr. Tedder was Shareholder at Sherrard, German & Kelly, P.C., Partner at Duane Morris, LLP and Reed Smith, LLP, and an Associate at Babst, Calland, Clements & Zomnir, P.C. Mr. Thiele’s leadership of the Carlsbad team and dedication to solving complex problems on behalf of the firm’s clients and developing meaningful relationships with both clients and colleagues will continue to facilitate growth across the Company.

Mr. Thiele previously served as the Carlsbad Land Development and Office Manager at Michael Baker, a role in which he managed public works and land development projects, including grading, street design, storm drainage, sewer and water, as well as capacity analysis for transportation and utilities, identification of required infrastructure improvements, traffic calming, hydrology and hydraulics, Water Quality Technical Reports (WQTRs), grant funded projects, state and federally funded projects, specifications and cost estimates. In addition to serving as Del Mar’s City Engineer for 10 years, he continues to work with the cities of San Diego, Oceanside, Encinitas, San Marcos, Imperial Beach and Carlsbad, among others. Prior to joining Michael Baker, Mr. Thiele worked at Bechtel National and MacKay & Somps in Northern California.
Mr. Thiele earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose University in San Jose, California. He is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), San Diego Chapter, and the American Public Works Association (APWA), San Diego Chapter.

In his new role, Mr. Dietrick will collaborate with client service teams, local offices and Practice leads to develop national strategies and identify capabilities and resources to grow the firm’s portfolio of Design-Build projects.

Mr. Dietrick has a broad range of experience covering all aspects of design, analysis, rehabilitation and inspection of bridges. Throughout his career at Michael Baker, Mr. Dietrick has partnered with departments of transportation and other agencies across the US, as well as the Federal Highway Administration. Mr. Dietrick began his career in Michael Baker’s innovative bridge software development group and spent six years as a Senior Bridge Engineer for J. Muller International working on the design of multiple complex bridges outside of the US.
He earned a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a certified instructor for several National Highway Institute bridge design and load rating training courses and has delivered training to numerous departments of transportation across the country. Mr. Dietrick is also active in numerous professional organizations, including Engineers Without Borders (EWB), Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP), International Bridge Conference Executive Committee, and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS), Northeast Ohio.
